Mommy's Birthday Weekend

This is mine and Jared's first time being away from Makenzie, for a long period of time, since New Years of 2007. We miss her a lot but we know she is right were she LOVES to be, with her grandparents. We called last night to check on her and she was on Mi Mi's couch watching "Tom and Jerry". We arrived in Ocean City at about 8:30 pm. It is really rainy and foggy here.

Thank goodness for "self-timer shooting" It works perfectly on my birthday present. We look horrible. LOL This is a picture I took right before we left the driveway. I will explain the look on her face... she thought I was coming to pick her up. See... I told you, she loves being with her grandparents, both sets of them. It is hard to get her to leave their home.

Picture, as promised

A few posts ago I promised I would post a picture Makenzie's hair, "Daddy style"... Below is a picture of his wonderful attempt to put Makenzie's hair in pig tails. Not only is the pony tails low, but the line is crooked and there are two different color ties in her hair. But how cute is it that he is trying? He was SO excited about these pig tails, however, Makenzie was not and wanted them out. He is getting better.

Some "PROFESSIONAL" pictures

Here are some pictures from our "photo shoot" last night with my new camera.
Makenzie "hiding" with "yiddle baby" Ronald McDonald in her hand. Coloring, one of her favorite things to do. Fake smile, saying "CHEESE".
Caught her off guard. : )

Mommy's Birthday

Tomorrow is my birthday. Jared and Makenzie took me to Best Buy last night to purchase my present from the both of them. I was SO excited about my BRAND NEW CAMERA (professional, that is). I have been wanting one for YEARS so that I could take GREAT pictures of Makenzie and the family. When we got home, I charged up the battery and Makenzie and I had a photo shoot. She was posing and being silly. She even took a few pictures of me and did a great job. I will post those pictures later. Unfortunately Jared had to be AT work at 4 am this morning (all the way in Bethesda). He had to get right into bed when we got home to be up at 3 am and could not be apart of our shoot. There will be plenty more for him to be in. : )
Jared is taking me to Ocean City this weekend. Makenzie will stay with Mi Mi and Pappy tonight and PaPa and Oma tomorrow night. She is very excited. I am very excited to have a weekend away with my husband, though we will both miss Makenzie so much!!! Anyway, I am excited to have this present so that I can take pictures while we are there (hopefully it won't be nasty, it is supposed to be, we can pray about it!) Laurie and Kenny have a beautiful condo with a beautiful view, bay side.

An e-mail from Makenzie's Sunday School Teacher

Makenzie's Sunday School Teacher, Ms. Linda (who happens to be our cousin), e-mailed Mom (Oma) with the sweetest, kindest, and most thoughtful e-mail about Makenzie. I wanted to share it with everyone. Also, I wanted Makenzie to be able to read it when she gets older.
PS... Please note how the Sunday School teacher also mentions Makenzie refering to me "when I was a yiddle gurl" (told you, she is something else)!
Here is the email:
BTW, did Earl tell you how we were bragging on Makenzie to him Sunday when he picked her up? She really is a sweet little one and so polite. For some reason, she was really in a lovable mood Sunday. Usually she is more like that w/me, but Sunday she spent a lot of time loving on Brenda too. We also told Earl how Makenzie told me how her Mother and Uncle Steven use to play with the toys in the Nursery too when they were little. She was really talking about one specific toy, but Brenda nor I could remember what the toy was -- she is something else. A REAL pleasure to have w/us. Karen, Jared, you, Earl and Makenzie's other grandparents (Granny and Grandpa too) are doing a great job w/her. It is obvious that she has some great examples to follow at "home". I know you all have to be very proud of her. Love ya, Linda Linda C. Bubnack

When you was a yiddle gurl yike me?

For the past week and 1/2, when Makenzie is telling stories, she always says "When you was a yiddle gurl yike me Mommy, did you do dat?" Or "Daddy did dat when he was a yiddle boy." Or "When I was a yiddle baby I did dat." She has been doing that A LOT. Some of her references she is just making up to be silly. She has a great imagination. Sometimes she tries to use that reference to get herself out of trouble. Ex: "But, but, but... You did dat when you was a yiddle gurl." She is too smart for her own good.
Below are a few pictures of Makenzie laying on the couch. Daddy worked late last night then had a baseball meeting, so it was just us two girls. We watched John and Kate plus eight and had lasagna for dinner. She loves watching the Gossling kids. She wants to "go bisit dem" one day.

Dinner with the Krikstan's

Jared and Cody have taking a liking to grilling oysters. This is the second weekend in a row we have had dinner with the Krikstan's. We LOVE seeing Bailey, so bring on the oysters!! It seems like every week Bailey is doing something new! I remember those days with Makenzie. This week Bailey was dancing. I took video of Makenzie and Bailey dancing. Also, we were doing "high fives" and "CHEESE". Bailey is GREAT a smiling SO big when we say "cheese". Every time I would say "cheese" Bailey would turn around, look at me and start smiling. LOL Makenzie is "so over" taking pictures. She looks away before I can even snap the picture. I guess I take too many. Anyway, Mandi let Makenzie feed Bailey. Makenzie loved doing it, though Makenzie needs a little more practice. Bailey grabbed the spoon twice (saying "Makenzie, give me that food") I think Makenzie will be a GREAT sister one day and she thinks so too. : )
Bailey and Makenzie (a little blurry but the only one I have with them both looking...LOL)
"High five Bailey" Cheese!
I think she looks like her Aunt Danielle in this picture!Dinner time for Bailey

Speaking of Makenzie's hair

I wanted to tell you all that after bath time Jared has been blow drying and brushing Makenzie's hair. The last few times I have walked back into Makenzie room and found Jared trying new hair styles that he has seen me do on Makenzie. A few days ago he did pig tails. It was pretty good until he turned her around and there was a MAJOR zig zag going down the back of her head (they were pretty low too...). Tuesday Makenzie walked out of her room from Daddy's hair session and she had a side pony tail, though Jared told me it was supposed to be a regular pony tail "it's just a little crooked." I am hoping he learns how to do french braids so he can do that to both me and Makenzie's hair. I have a picture of the "Jared pig tails." I will try to remember to post that when I get home from work.

Autumn came over last night to cut Makenzie's hair. We have been preparing Makenzie for a few weeks now that she will be getting her hair cut. She was ready when Autumn got there. She told Autumn "I need a hey-ya tut, my hey-ya too yong." She was so good while Autumn was cutting. She didn't move a muscle. Autumn said she cut a good inch and 1/2 off. Makenzie couldn't stop swinging her hair after it was all done. She kept running her fingers through it. Mi Mi, Pappy, Oma and Pa Pa came to watch. We had a house full. After....

This Weekend

The Krikstan's made us Chicken noodle soup for dinner Monday night since Jared wasn't feeling well. How sweet!! It was SO good! Chicken Noodle is Makenzie's favorite soup. We told Makenzie while we were at the Doctors office with Daddy that Mandi Cody and Bailey were coming over to bring dinner. Makenzie was VERY excited to see baby "Bay-yee" and talked about it the whole way home from taking Daddy to the doctors. However, this is how she ended up when "Bay-yee" got there...And this is Baby Bailey!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Makenzie got home from Church on Sunday she was looking for Daddy. I told her he was back in bed not feeling well. She went back to check on him. Makenzie and I were sitting on the bed talking to Daddy and Makenzie left to go into her room. She came back with her Stethoscope and needle. She listen to Daddy's heart beat and gave him a shot. What a sweet little Doctor. Giving Daddy a shot
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Makenzie and I went to get our nails and toes painted on Saturday. She was very still while her nails dried. She got to pick her own color and she picked pink. She sat in the pedicure chair with me and put her feet in the water. Ms. Nancy also put lotion on her legs.
A Day at Oma and PaPa's
As you all may already know Makenzie spends every other Monday and every Friday with Papa (my parents). I am lucky enough to get every other Monday off to spend with my little bug. Oma gets every other Friday off, which means she gets to spend a whole day with Makenzie as well. Oma sent me these picture today of Makenzie enjoying some treats at their house.
Makenzie enjoying a donut
Makenzie eating a "ya-yee-pop"
SCARY MONSTER
Last night we went to a Survivor party at Henry and Megan Pierce's. Liam (their son) let Makenzie put his Hulk costume on. At first she was scared of the costume and would run from Ally, Megan and Liam when they would put it on. However when Katie helped Makenzie put on the Hulk costume and she didn't want to take it off. She said that she is a "Scary Monster".
SNOW DAY
Kenzie, Jared and I got to stay home and play in the Snow on Monday. We got 11 inches. We had so much fun. Makenzie enjoyed making snow angels. Unfortunately it wasn't the right kind of snow for us to make a snowman b/c Makenzie really wanted to make one. She kept asking Jared and I... "wanna make a snowman?" She went Sleigh riding with her cousin Madison & Nathan Kavlick and Kaleb Hock. They all had a good time. Jared helping Makenzie fix her 'dubs" (gloves) Snow Angels Ready to go outside.
