Mommy's Birthday Weekend...

What a wonderful, fun filled weekend.  Saturday we went on a egg hunt at Marbury Baptist, then headed over to my house to work on it.  Sunday, we celebrated my 28th birthday.  Mom and Dad made Steak, potatoes and Spinach (my favorite).  Makenzie ate TWO helpings of Spinach.  She loves it!  Every time I make dinner she will say "Mommy, can I have some spinach?"  Needless to say, I will have stock when I move into my house.
I will let the photo's speak for themselves regarding this weekends fun:
Her Cupcake, that she wanted to eat BEFORE lunch.  She did finish her hot dog before I let her dig in...

Silly

After lunch, the children went outside for an egg hunt...
This is pre-egg hunt.  The Easter Bunny left Makenzie an early gift so she could collect eggs.  He will bring more to add to this bucket....  We called him and told him specifically what Makenzie would like him to bring. She told him he could find it in Lowes.  (it's sad... we are in Lowes so much, Makenzie is finding things she wants also).
Kenzie and I

Headed out and Egg hunting....
Makenzie got 11 eggs total.  She did very well and Kenz and Grace were very nice when one (not so nice) little girl would steal the eggs they were going for, on time she screamed at them.  You can see her in action grabbing in he pink hoodie . lol. Kenz and Grace would just walk away to the next egg they paid no attention to her.  Carter was nice with the egg that he got.  He was going to put it in Makenzie's basket.  : )  It was a nice day and a really nice time.  After the egg hunt, we headed to my house to continue work.
This is my bathroom (work in progress).  Also, you know who the last person to use the toilet was?  Me either but I do know it was a male!!!
This is Makenzie's room.  The hard wood floors still need to be refinished.  Chris Dudley is going to finish them next weekend (hopefully).
This will be either my bedroom or the guest bedroom.  Not sure which yet, since I am putting a master bedroom in the house.
This is the enterance way to all three rooms, from the living room.
The Kitchen, in shambles.  Kenny and Steven measuring to lay the tile
Makenzie measuring to lay tile down
And then Kenzie and Uncle Steven started to dance...
After the durock was laid (PROGRESS PEOPLE! YAY!)
Special "THANKS" to my durock layer
And a special thanks to ALL my helpers.  ; )
Saturday night on the way home I stopped at a ROCKIN' party. ; )  The neighbors were having a party for D-Bail's and I snaped one photo, which we sent to Ang to try to talk her into coming. LOL

Sunday we celebrated my birthday after Church... It was so nice!

Opening presents (Kenzie picture)
Sunday night, we colored Easter Eggs (or should I say tried).  While dying the eggs.  I told Makenzie to put the eggs in the dye carefully.  She said "Ok, so dem eggs are gonna die when I put them in dare?"  Try explaining to a three year old that die and dye mean two TOTALLY different things.  It can get complicating. Makenzie played with them all night and even took them into the bath tub.
While she is in the bath tub, if I have to walk away I will yell her name to make sure her head is above water.  I yelled "Kenzie?"  She yelled back "Mommy, I am okay!!!  Stop treating me like a children."  Sometimes, I cannot believe my ears.

Slowly but Surely...

I picked Kenz up from School yesterday.  She was being funny and pretending like she didn't see me.  All the kids in her class were yelling "Makenzie your Mom's here!!!"  She just kept licking the icing off her cookies and smiling, acting like she couldn't hear anyone.  She likes to joke around with me.

We headed down to our new house to meet a plumber.  Since we are putting in another bathroom, I need a plumber.  That is now in the works. I also met with someone last weekend to re-finish my hardwood.  I bought kitchen flooring and back splash for my kitchen (the tiles that go on the wall).  Hopefully a lot more will get done this weekend.  Kenzie and I played dominos and had a tea party while Papa talked with the plumber.  The plumber's name was Jerry.  Makenzie made a joke when he said his name.  She said "dat's funny! Just like Tom & Jeh-wee."  LOL  She cracks me up.

We had Bible Study last night, but she decided not to go and stay with Papa and play outside.  So, I went by myself.  By the time I got home, it was time for bed. She had her bath and was in her pj's. So, we turned on.... Tom & Jerry, lol, her favorite.  There is only a wall between her room and mine.  I can hear her laughing so hard at that cartoon.  I love hearing her laugh, it makes me laugh.

Happy Birthday Papa....

Today is my Dad's birthday (Kenzie's Papa).  He is so special to Kenzie and I.  We both have a very special bond with him.  He has been there and done so much for both of us.  I could never thank him enough. Makenzie means the world to him.  He is constantly amazed by her.  Her presence makes him light up.  He plays games with her to help create her (already huge) imagination.  Reading books is one of their favorite pass times together.

She lights up his life and brings out the kid in him again.  Watching him play with her reminds me of all of the things he used to do with Steven and I.

Happy Birthday Dad! We love you so much!  Hope you get a hole in one today!

March of Dimes 2010...

UPDATE:  Please look at added pictures of Makenzie on my St. Patrick's Day post.  THANK YOU SOOOO much Diana for taking them and sending them to me.  : )

As most of you already know, Makenzie and I will be participating in the March of Dimes fund raiser this year.  My beloved Blogger Mom's have joined too.  Mandi started a team this week. Unfortunately I am on a different team, but we are all in this together.  A few weeks ago I joined Stephanie Robertson's team who has been doing this for the last five years.  I told myself at the beginning of this year I wanted to start doing two things :
1) Build a stronger/closer relationship with God
2) Get involved in charities and do more to help both those I know and those I do not know.
Besides donating to Haiti, March of Dimes was presented to me and I jumped on the chance.  I want to do this also to show Makenzie the importance of helping others in need.
I am excited to say I am walking with three of my very best friends... Kelly, Mandy and Autumn.  I told Kelly about it yesterday and she joined immediately, knowing that it would only be possibly 2 weeks after Ethan enters the world.  So I pray that she an Ethan will actually be able to come along.  Come on Ethan!
Our team name is Southern Maryland B's.  I believe this has been Stephanie's team name for several years.  Stephanie ordered our shirts and our shirts will look like this:
And the children's shirts will look like this:

I think the shirts are cute.  I am very excited about this and look forward to it.  Especially being able to walk next to a lot of my very good friends.  It is so uplifting.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St.Patty's Day!  I wish I had a picture of Kenz and how cute she looked today.  All dressed in her St.Patrick's Day shirt.  Unfortunatly I leave at 4:50 am and Kenzie is sound asleep and Papa has no idea how to work a camera phone much less forward the picture to me.  Hey, he tried... or at least he said he did.  I was seriously tempted to call the school and ask if someone could take a picture with their camera phone and send it to me so I could post it.  I figured that may be a little over the top.  Since she is staying with her Dad tonight, I even thought about having Diana send me a picture when she picks up Bryce. LOL

Slowly but surely we are making progress on our house.  I am trying to line people up to do different things that we just don't know how to do.  That ties things up in progress.  I have decided to install another bathroom.  Mom and I have been picking out things for that.  Well, Mom has been picking them out.  She is so good with that stuff. I am not so good.  I can't wait to see the house finished.  Then... on to yard work.  The outside needs cleaning up too.  I need to put a whole new fence up.  CJ and Steven are going to cut down trees and limbs for me.  There is just so much to do, my head is spinning.  I want it perfect though.  I know myself, I won't stop until it is.

Hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!!!

(03/18/10): Special thanks to Diana for snaping these photos of my little ham yesterday.  Better late than never. ; )

Kitty Cat

This weekend Makenzie attended a Tastefully Simple party at Ms. Linda's house.  Ms. Linda is Makenzie's Sunday school teacher.  She is also my Mother's first cousin.  Early Saturday morning, before Ms. Linda's party that afternoon, Papa told Makenzie that she was going to meet Ms. Linda's husband, Larry.  Papa told her, "When you meet Ms. Linda's husband put your hand out and shake his.  Say 'Hello, nice to meet you.  I'm Makenzie Wood."  Mom had no idea Dad had told Makenzie to do that.  She and Makenzie walked up to Ms. Linda's and Ms. Linda's husband (Larry) answered the door.  Mom said he bent down to greet Makenzie.  She said Makenzie extended out her hand for a hand shake and said "Hi I am Makenzie Wood."  Dad was so shocked she remembered to do it b/c he had told her early that morning.
I remember being young and Dad always told me... "look them in the eye and give him a firm handshake.  Make sure to call them Sir or Ma'am."  That has stuck.  Usually when I shake someones hand, especially a man's, they will say "that's a firm handshake" LOL  I give credit to Dad for that. ; )

Sunday we went to church I was sitting in the pew with Granny when along came a precious little girl with a cat mask on.  She was acting like a cat and saying "meow".  After taking off the mask, we realized it was Makenzie. ; ) lol  Ms. Linda had bought all the children animal masks and Makenzie was the cat, they greeted each Sunday school class.  She loves that mask. After church we headed to Green Turtle with the family to watch the Capitol's game.

Here is Makenzie eating a lemon.

We then headed over to Lowes to order the door for my house.  We also decided to put in another bathroom, so we looked at bathroom supplies as well. After Lowes we were driving home.  It was silent which is not usual.  I turned around to look at Makenzie and this is what I saw...

She had to have that mask on.  Look at those tired eyes.  She wasn't interested in my taking a picture at all.  I had to snap a picture at the first red light though.  It was so cute.  After a few minutes more of driving, I turned around to this...

That cat was tuckered out from a long day.  She also wore this mask to lunch on Monday. ha ha

Mommy's Night Out...

Tuesday night I met up with my friends for dinner.  All of which have blogs, like me.  If you look to the right of my blog all of these ladies links are posted there.  It was an awesome night and I feel blessed to have each of these ladies in my life.  Such a great group of Mothers who adore their children. I cannot wait for more get togethers.  From labor horror stories to work, we talked about it all.

I think all you girls can agree when I say,  I want to work with Jelena.  I could use a new Coach purse or a shopping spree as my boss sees fit. LOL  I can't get over that!  Jelena, when your done with that purse let me barrow it. ha ha

L to R (Top Row):  Patty, Nikki, Elaine, Jelena, Mandi, Brandi, Angela
L to R (Bottom Row):  Amber, Diana, Me

I had so much fun with you ladies. Can't wait for more good times with you all! ; )

My Little Painter...

Yesterday, after work, I picked up Kenzie from school.  We headed over to the house to start cleaning up the walls and wiping eveything down so Dad could start painting tomorrow.  I also scrubbed and disinfected the kitchen.  We cleaned out all of the trash and leftover junk the previous homeowner left.  I also opened up all the windows to let the house air out. I realized yesterday, there is SO much more to be done than I thought. We are going to take our time and do it right.  I don't want to rush.

Makenzie was so excited to paint and Dad was so excited to let her paint.  Dad went out and bought a mini roller.  He grabbed a small can of whatever paint he laid his eyes on first, which happened to be hot pink.  This will not be the color of Kenzie's room.  And Dad has A LOT more primer to paint on these walls now than he did before yesterday.  He just wanted her to be able to paint.  She had fun and that is all that matters.
Here are some pictures...

Last night Makenzie woke up crying.  I asked her what was wrong.  She said "I got tape in my hair."  I couldn't imagine how she could get tape in her hair but her hair was clearly sticking to her pajamas.  After further inspection... it was GUM!  Yes, she got up after I put her to bed, got into her candy drawer (which  isn't aloud into with out asking) and put a piece of gum in her mouth.  She fell asleep and out came the gum into her hair.  So, I had to brush it and ended up having to cut a few strands.  It hurt her head for me to have to try and brush it out.  She learned her lesson.  She told me she wasn't going to chew gum before bed again.
It's funny thinking back to the first time I got gum in my hair.  Sometimes I laugh to myself watching her go through some things and remembering back to going through the same experiences.

RIP Uncle George.... Hello Indian Head

It has been a very hectic week.  We found out last Friday that Uncle George had passed away (Grandpa's Brother).  After suffering for many months, he went to be with the Lord and those we miss so much.  It is sad b/c now there is another family member missing.  It is also a blessing b/c he gets to be with Jesus.  Makenzie didn't take it very well.  She cried for the whole first hour of the viewing.  She walked up to the casket and looked.  She didn't quite understand.  She asked me to explain.  I told her Uncle George went to Heaven.  She asked lots of questions, like:  "Can you talk in Heaven?  Can you bring your toys to Heaven?  Does Uncle George have shoes on?"  After awhile she was ok.  She couldn't grasp that he was laying there, but wasn't really there.  So, she asked me if she could go to the burial so she could watch him go to Heaven.  I didn't want her to go to the funeral b/c the viewing was just too much.  I thought it would be better for her to go to school.  Wednesday was the funeral.  It was hard to say good-bye, but he is so much better off now.

This is Uncle George.  For those of you who know my Grandfather, isn't it crazy how much they look alike?  It's funny b/c in their younger years, they look nothing alike.

On a better note, I am leaving work in 30 minutes to head to Re-max.  I am FINALLY going to settlement today (for sure this time).  A very special thanks to PaPa (Dad).  With out him, none of this would have been possible.  He stayed on top of everyone to make sure this went a smooth as possible for me.  I am very grateful for all you did, Dad.  You're the best.  Anyone who gets you as a Realtor in the future should consider themselves very lucky!!  I am figuring it will probably take a little over a month to fix up the house.  I have lots of wonderful friends and family to help.  I am hoping to be an official Indian Head resident by mid April.  I am very excited, overwhelmed, and scared.  This is such a major accomplishment and comes with a lot more responsibility.  I am ready though, very ready.  I can't wait for Makenzie to help decorate her new room.  We already bought a new bed room set for her.  I will take pictures and post soon.

Sorry for lack of pictures.  Like I said, things have been super busy.

I look forward to seeing all of my fellow blogger Mom's on Tuesday!  : )
