Makenzie is leaving tonight with Jared to go to Ocean City until August 9th. I am going to miss her so much. I asked her last night to please remember to call me and she said that she would. I told her to make sure she said her prayers every night and I would be praying for her. : ) She is so sweet. She told me not to be sad, she would be back and come get me, she won't be gone long. I know she is going to have a great time with all of her cousins.
Last night she was playing with her new Barbie's she got for her 3rd Birthday. She was drawn to one in particular and took it with us to run errands. When she is in the car with me I like to turn off the radio and talk (if she allows this, sometimes we have to listen to her favorite songs). While in the car I asked her what her Barbie's name was (I like to ask her questions like this to get her imagination running). She looked at me, looked at the Barbie, looked back up at me and said "Um... Mommy, her don't talk, her a Barbie." I said "You are right, but you can give her a name", she wouldn't. On our way home I asked her again. She took Barbie and made a pretend high pitched voice for her, then she would say something back in her normal voice, then a pretend high pitch voice for the Barbie. Finally she said "Mommy, her said her name is Sassy... Sassy Barbie." I thought it was so funny and wondered where she got the name "Sassy" from.
This morning she woke up with me when my alarm went off. Something tells me she was already up watching the Disney Channel that I left on the TV from the night before. I rolled over and she was looking at me and she said "Mommy, you have to wake up with a BIG smile like this..." and she smiled so big. So I did it too. She said, "Ok, now let me hold you for a minute." She is so adorable. That really gave my day an extra special start. Dad emailed me this morning and said she played for a couple of hours after I left for work (4:50 am) and she was already back to sleep (7:00 am). I guess she will skip her nap today and sleep good in the car for Jared on their way down to Ocean City.
Keep the Wood's in your prayers for safe arrival, safe vacation, and safe ride home!
