Picture Day at Grace Baptist Pre-K/ What's Makenzie up to?

I say it all the time... If my head wasn't attached, I'd lose it.  Thank goodness for my blackberry calendar which keeps me on task. This morning when Kenzie and I woke up we did our normal routine.  Brush hair and teeth, wash our face, take our vitamins, get dressed, eat breakfast.  I asked Makenzie to get her lunch box to me so I could fill it up with the lunch I had prepared.  She brought me an orange piece of paper from her lunch box and said "Mommy, will you read this to me b/c I can't read."  I looked at the paper and it said Picture day September 28th.  My mind drew a blank... 'What day is it? WHAT DAY IS IT????'  I grabbed my phone and sure enough... CRAP! We were running on time today too.  I ran in the bathroom and heated up the curling iron.

This is how her hair turn out:

She said "Oh Mommy thank you; now I look just like Taylor Swift." I thought it turned out pretty well.  I was nervous b/c her hair is so fine and I had just washed it with conditioner the night before.  You should have seen her in the car when I drove her to school.  She leaned forward the whole time so she didn't crush her hair.  I told her I forwarded a picture message to Mimi.  She wanted to know what Mimi said... I told her that Mimi and Pappy think it looks great and they loved it.  She had to call and confirm that they felt that way.  I heard her say "isn't it great?" ha ha  I sent it to Jared too.  I didn't get to tell her before she got into school but he said "she looks beautiful."

What is Kenzie up to?

  • I think I have mentioned before, but she is really into know what time it is... She must asked 100 times a day.  I am not sure what time is to a four year old, but I guess it helps her learn.
  • Everything she does now, it is b/c she is four and "four year old can do this..."
  • Sunday, she counted all the way to 54 with my help once.  She stopped at 54 only b/c Papa is 54 (she said).  She was going to go to 100.
  • We took her to Cirque Du Soleil on Sunday and now she aspires to be a Gymnast.  She even started to do some of the moves as soon as we walked out of the tent.
  • She is playing soccer she does really well during practice.  During the games she is very hesitant b/c she is afraid of the physical contact from the other team.
  • She moved out of the Nursery at Church and is in a new class room with the older kids
  • She is into dressing up, make-up, high heels, jewelry.  She is a girly girl.
  • You can not get anything by her and she sees and hears everything!!
  • She is starting to remember her dreams now and will wake up and tell me about them.

Charles County Fair 2010

Friday night Mandy, Kelly and I packed up the kids and headed to the County Fair.  I really love the fair and so does Kenzie.  It was so packed this year though.  It must have been due to the nice weather.

Here are some pictures

Injury...

Monday afternoon I picked Kenzie up from school.  I pulled in the parking lot and faced the playground as I finish my phone call.  I proceeded to search the playground with my eyes looking for Kenz.  I saw all of her friends/classmates but not her.  I got out of my car to walk to the playground to inquire and a teacher stopped me and said Kenzie was inside that she had been hurt... blah blah blah... she fell... blah blah blah.  She was being so informative and sweet but all I wanted the teacher to do was stop explaining so I could run inside to see what had happened.  I just nodded at her and said "ok, ok, ok..." but I don't think I heard a word after "Makenzie was hurt...".  I run inside and come around the corner as Makenzie comes out of the bathroom and WOW! I didn't expect it to be so bad.  She was playing and was running really hard and ran into a metal pole on the playground.  Here are some pictures.  This is the first major injury for me as a Mom. More to come, I know, but its very scarey and painful to see  your child in pain.

I talked to Megan Hergett last night and she told me Zay (her son) said Kenz was chasing him and Blake on the playground.  She was a Monster.  Zay said "Mommy, she was the best monster until she ran into that pole." ha ha  Makenzie confirmed the story when I asked her, but in her version she was a MEAN witch.

DAY ONE
After we got home from school (Monday).  She held ice on it for a LONG time.  You can see her nose is swollen and her lip is purple.  She has marks along her face.  I took her to get a blue icey b/c her gums were a little swollen and it made her feel better.

This is right before bed the first night.  The marks are becoming more clear and she is in MUCH better spirits.

DAY TWO
This was yesterday (Tuesday).  Doesn't it look worse?   The swelling went up to her eye and the scratch is so bad.  We put medicine on it three times last night so it heals fast and doesn't leave a scar.  Worst part is... OF COURSE, she has Soccer pictures tonight.  She even said this morning "I am getting soccer pictures done with my face looking like THIS?"

This is her sleeping. You can see her little bruised nose, but she is so precious.  : )

Soccer...

It's that time of year.  Soccer is here!!  Kenzie played in her FIRST game on Saturday.  I am not going to go as far to say she is the teams star player, but we did get her on the field.  At one point she was yelling "MOMMY" from the middle of the playing field.  I said "What Kenz?"  She screams  "I AM SO SCARED".  ha ha  I kept teasing Jared and telling him "Next year... Cheerleading!" I explained to her that is what her shin guards are for, they will protect her.  What can I say, she doesn't like confrontation or physical contact.  I can't blame her.  That is very scarey.  Hopefully she will get used to it.  I took her to coach Chris' house after the game so he could work with her and Gracie.  : )

Here is one picture before the game.  More to come.  I need to download.

We went to Brandon Robertson's 6th birthday Saturday as well.  It was Pirate themed and a lot of fun!!!  Happy Birthday Brandon.

Annual Doctors Appointment/Check-up...

Jared and I took Makenzie to her annual check-up at the Doctors a few Thursday's ago.  This marks the first time she fully understood what SHOT means.  We didn't tell her b/c we wanted to be able to actually get her into the doctors office.  This by no means was her first shot; however, it is the first time she is aware of what it is and knows that it isn't a comfortable feeling.

The nurses gave her a hearing and eye test, weighed her and measured her height.  She got a good bill of health from the Doctor and then... the nurse comes in with TWO shots.  She proceeds to say to Makenzie "Where would you like these? In the arm or the leg?" Makenzie said "Well, what is it?"  At this point Makenzie is sitting on the exam table.  The nurse says "Shots".  Makenzie said "Oh, no thank you.  I don't want a shot." and JUMPS off the table.  Ugh, poor girl...  She took them in the arm.  : (

EYE TEST

HEARING TEST

This is the nurse telling Makenzie that she is getting a shot (right before she leaps off the table).

Oh what devistation.  She was so upset with Jared and I.  She screamed the whole way out of the office.  "I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE COME WITH  YOU!!!"  As we got outside and attempted to calm her down she suddenly stopped crying, looked at us and said "Stupid nurse!"  We do NOT condone that talk; however due to the circumstance and the pure shock of her saying it... both Jared and I bursted out laughing.  Needless to say, getting her to the doctors office from here out is going to be a huge task.

Washington DC Zoo

Mandy and I took Gracie and Makenzie to the Zoo a few Saturday's ago.  It was a nice day; however, I wasn't completely thrilled with the Zoo.  They have a lot of work to do!  There were only a few exhibits open.  It was a little disappointing.

Afterward, we headed to the National Harbor.  We took the girls to eat at Ketchup then headed to Ben and Jerry's for ice-cream.  The girls seemed to enjoy themselves.

Yes, they have farm animals at the zoo... and if ANYONES kids knows what farm animals look like (live and in person) it is our Southern Maryland born and rasied kids.  Needless to say, this was NOT cool or a shocker to Grace and Kenzie.

If you can't tell by the picture above... those are Bears.  It was hard to get a good picture from so far away.

If you can see that Monkey WAY up there in the picture above... Those towers were built so the Monkey's can swing from tower to tower all over the Zoo.  They cannot climb down any further than the square platform b/c electricity that will shock them.  BUT... what if one drops??? I couldn't believe they allow those Monkey's to swing freely like that, but it's pretty cool.

This is the bottom of the tower and how they climb up and down.
Two Monkey's in the tower.
Ketchup
China Town.  I think it's pretty cool looking.  Who know what it will look like when Kenzie's 18 so I wanted to take a picture.  : )
